SUBJECT OF STUDY
SCIDRA YOGA: IN-DEPTH STUDY OF THE SEVEN RHYTHMS AND SEQUENCES FOR CLASSES OF DIFFERENT LEVELS
Through an in-depth study of the Scidra Yoga sequences and its Rhythms, age-old knowledge and methods will blend in with contemporary techniques, thus enabling future teachers to bring Yoga to a wide range of people: sportspeople, those who are trying to recover their health, elderly people, people who are looking for a release of tension.
STRUCTURE AND CREATION OF YOGA SEQUENCES
The training course will allow future teachers to adapt Yoga to each practitioner, while respecting their physical and mental nature. There will be a balance between theory and practice.
Students will learn how to move their body, how to breathe, how to find asanas suitable for each practitioner: all this will enable them to lead private and individual classes, and to suggest solutions for common health problems, such as constipation, chronic fatigue, basic posture balance. We shall also teach advanced schemes, in order to create well-balanced, effective sequences.
YOGA PRACTICE RELATED TO PHYSICAL AILMENTS
Asanas and breathing tecniques (pranayama) constitute a tool which allows us to recover our health. These techniques, together with the knowledge of the specific effects of each Yoga pose, will allow future teachers to create sequences which may help in case of particular physical ailments. We shall discover the main contra-indications for certain asanas, and the necessary adaptations.
OBSERVATION AND ASSISTANCE –MANUAL ADJUSTMENTS
We shall pursue an expertise in assisting and correcting practitioners, also with tools, such as: bricks, belts, Zafu, blankets.
TEACHING METHOD
In this second level of the training course, the art of teaching will be studied in depth, with sessions devoted to teaching practice. Under the supervision of the course directors, the future teachers will hold yoga lessons in order to learn, with the use of voice and music, as tools, so as to connect with the whole class. Personal qualities will be emphasized in the teaching practice.
EASTERN PHILOSOPHY AND HISTORY OF YOGA
Further study of Yoga philosophy and history will complete the bases for the first level of the training course.
In particular, we shall study the indispensable concepts in order to understand the notions of traditional yoga, and will read and comment on the Yoga Sutra. Philosophy is essential for a full command of Yoga techniques, and the realization of their true goal.
Through the history of Yoga, we shall provide key elements, which will enable students to understand its development in time, as well as the way in which different methods and styles came up.
ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY, AND BIOMECHANICS
A good knowledge of anatomy will be applied to yoga practice, in order to teach asanas and pranayama in a safe and effective way, while preserving joints, muscles, and organs. We shall explore the principles of movement, in particular the connective tissue, also known as fascia, which connects all the various parts of our body as one integrated system. We shall study biomechanics in detail, in order to customize teaching and adapt asanas to practitioners at all levels.
ADVANCED ASANAS
Poses which have already been studied in the first level, will be performed so as to carry the effects of asanas even deeper. New categories of asanas will be studied. Inversions (upon both head and hands), twists, hand-balance poses, complex, intensive bendings which require opening various areas of the body at the same time. We shall see how to use different versions of the asanas in order to create sequences suitable for each pupil.
ADVANCED PRANAYAMA TECHNIQUES
We shall study advanced Pranayama techniques, and will learn how to address our breath in the farthest areas of our body, so as to open and free them.
RELAXATION TECHNIQUES
Yoga Nidra: this is the part devoted to relaxation and development of the ability to bring vital rhythms to an ideal condition, which may enable both body and mind to heal and recover their inner balance.
ADVANCED MEDITATION TECHNIQUES
We shall examine a few meditation techniques related to both Yoga and Zen, and we shall study the Anatomy of the Mind, so as to understand those functions which may train and expand it. A part of the practice will be related to the exploration of these techniques.
YOGA ETHICAL CODE
In the field of Yoga, mainly in the Western world, an ethical code has been developed, which is based upon the traditional principles of this discipline. A portion of the hours which compose the training course will be devoted to the study of these principles, as well as to those aspects of yoga teaching, which may be ruled by Italian or regional laws.
ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF YOGA COURSES AND CENTRES
In order to put into practice the ability to teach this discipline, you must get to know the laws and taxes necessary in order to start a course, as well as an association or a company. We shall examine the legal and fiscal aspects of delle ASD (amateur sports clubs) and SSD (amateur sports companies), as well as current laws, taxes, contracts and social security for the profession of Yoga Teacher.
