SUBJECTS OF STUDY
PHILOSOPHY AND HISTORY OF YOGA
It is essential to get to know the fundamentals of the History and Philosophy of Yoga in order to understand the development of yoga in the Indian continent, and its later spread in the Western world. During the training Course, we shall study in depth the History of Yoga and its role within Indian culture, as well as the Philosophy of Yoga and the  various schools of thought of India, in particular: The Vedic and Classic Period, and the fundamental texts of Yoga (Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Gheranda Samhita).

MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY YOGA
Modern yoga and its development in the Western world in the Nineteenth and Twentieth century; Contemporary yoga; the main and most widespread yoga styles in the world.

ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
Each asana affects joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. A good knowledge of the anatomy of the human body and the bones-muscles system wil apply immediately to the movements and stretching in the various yoga poses.
Body, mind and breathing compose an integrated system for yoga. In particular, our body constitutes a privileged entry into our own true nature.
Our thoughts, emotions, diet, lifestyle - everything affects, directly or indirectly, the mechanics of our body. We shall study all the systems of the human body, namely: Skeleton /Muscles/ Breathing/ Heart/ Circulatory/ Lymphatic/Endocrine/Digestive/Nervous/Reproductive/Skin/Urinary.

SUBTLE ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY OF YOGA
We shall analyze the subtle anatomy and physiology which constitute the basis of classical yoga and of the first books about Hatha Yoga, namely: Astral/ Pranic Body and the Five Prana/ Kundalini Shakti/ The Chakra System/ Nadis/ The five layers of being, or Kosha/ Shatkarma and Kriya

BASIC/INTERMEDIATE ASANAS
During the Course, we shall study in detail Yoga asanas, divided into categories: hand-standing/hip-opener/twist/backbanding/balance/forward-bending/inversion.
We shall study basic and intermediate asanas, as well as the fundamental principles of Alignment, so as to carry out poses correctly and benefit from them.

BASIC SEQUENCES OF MOVING YOGA
The bases of Moving Yoga will be taught, with the Seven Rhythms, in order to make up a yoga class, while applying the basic principles of alignment, balance, suspension, and transition. A thorough knowledge of the Seven Rhythms will help the future teacher to create different sequences in the classes, so as to work fully with various parts of the body.

PRANAYAMA, BASIC BREATHING TECHNIQUES, BHANDA, AND MUDRA
Breathing is at the heart of yoga. With PranaYama, we acquire a deeper awareness of the various stages of our breathing. The fundamental breathing techniques will be taught, namely Bandhas, which increase the effects of Pranayama, and Mudras, symbolic gestures which make it easier for our energy to flow through our body, thus helping our breathing/meditation practice.

BASIC MEDITATION TECHNIQUES
We shall study different Meditation techniques, as well as the way in which our brain and our mind react to meditation practices. Meditation paves the way to intuition; our mind acquires calm and stability, our thoughts get clearer and cautious.

RELAXATION TECHNIQUES
Yoga employs psychological and physical relaxation techniques, in  order to remove tiredness and toxins from our body, so as to restore balance to our nervous and circulatory systems. The main relaxation techniques will be taught, since they are essential in the yoga practice in order to stretch and relax our body, thus obtaining physical and mental benefits.

SANSKRIT
A good knowledge of a few Sanskrit key words will help us to better understand the language used in classic yoga text, both in philosophy, in the practice of asanas, in the breathing and relaxation tecniques.

PSYCHOLOGY IN YOGA
For any teacher, it is important to communicate in the best possible way with his/her pupils, and therefore to develop the necessary skills on order to guide pupils during their practice. We shall study in depth  the basic techniques of communication and active listening.

BASIC PRINCIPLES OF PEDAGOGY IN YOGA
Yoga aims at simplifying the relation and voluntary coordination of the extremely complex working of our body, so as to induce a state of psychic well-being.  Yoga is a method of self-improvement, which involves an awareness of the effects of body workout as a function of an education to attention. The yoga teaching method provides the instructor with a knowledge of certain techniques which enable pupils to engage in a path of self-awareness and consciousness of their own bodies.

TEACHING METHODS AND TECHNIQUES
During the training course, there will be sessions devoted to teaching practice.

ASSISTANCE PRACTICE / EFFECTIVE MANUAL AND SPOKEN ADJUSTMENTS
There is no universal approach in order to help correct a pupil in a yoga pose; that is why it is important for an instructor to know how to use tips in a class, as well as learn the basic manual techniques of assistance.
It is essential for the teacher to help pupils to move correctly, assist them in reaching their alignment, thus avoiding the easiest mistakes in executing poses; to teach them how to breathe and relax, all the while communicating effectively.

ETHICAL CODE IN YOGA
In the field of Yoga, an ethical code has been developed, as based upon the  traditional principles of this discipline. A few hours of the training course are devoted to the study of these principles, as well as to those aspects of teaching which may be ruled by the Italian laws.

TEACHING YOGA: ORGANIZING AND MANAGING CLASSES, MARKETING, LAWS AND TAXES
In order to teach yoga, you must develop the skill to start classes, open a yoga centre, or lead other activities connected to this profession. As a general rule, yoga teachers find it hard to manage classes and also face laws and taxes.
We shall teach how to organize and manage a yoga course, how to deal with a group of students; the importance of a professional and civil liability insurance policy, Privacy, and Marketing techniques. We shall also talk about a website, and/or the choice of social networks in order to promote one’s own activity. Finally, we shall mention the role of National Sports Promotion Agencies, Sports Leagues, and CONI (Italian Olympics Committee). In conclusion, we shall  talk about laws and taxes applied to the activity of a yoga instructor.
