WHAT IS ASIA
ASIA (Associazione per la Solidarietà Internazionale in Asia - Association for International Solidarity in Asia), was founded in Italy in 1988 by prof. Chogyal Namkhai Norbu, a former lecturer of Tibetan language and literature at Naples University "L'Orientale". He was one of the greatest experts of Tibet's history, philosophy, and spiritual tradition.
ASIA works in different Asian countries (namely: Tibet, India; Nepal, Myanmar, Mongolia and Sri Lanka) and is the only Italian organization which is present in all the regions of China, which are inhabited by Tibetan people (namely: Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and the Tibetan Autonomous Region).
It is a non-profit organization, recognized by the Italian Foreign Office (Ministero degli Affari Esteri), and was established as ONLUS (non-profit social organization) in 1998.
